I was part of an amazing team helping devs around the world build with Stripe's APIs.

In this role, I authored blog posts, filmed videos, and spoke at conferences about Stripe's APIs for connecting products to revenue, across 7 languages: Ruby, PHP, .net, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, Java and Python. 

Stripe's products also span platforms, from web to native Android & IOS, react-native, and flutter. 

I left this job in November of 2022 after a round of layoffs at Stripe.

Associate Consultant

I manage a group of 18-30 communities of practice (depending how you count them) across Canada, Latin America, and the United States, containing well over 5,000 Microsoft Employees. Our technical communities serve to keep field employees better connected with technical readiness, news, and help from their peers across Microsoft. 

My role includes management of a team of community leads and captains, as well as a working with leadership from across the business, to ensure that the goals and activities of the various communities in the Americas align to business needs.

Some of the types of activities we run include:
- Regular technical training sessions across a variety of Microsoft technologies, conducted virtually and in person
- Hack-a-thon events (both in person and virtual)
- Large scale, in person training events
- The creation of community hiring teams, which are used to recruit new employees into specific technical needs
- Virtual Ask Me Anything events with Microsoft leadershi

Americas Technical Communities Program Manager

Working for Microsoft Consulting Services as a User Experience designer. My job is to talk to business stakeholders and constituent users to design and implement software that will make their lives easier.  In short - if I've done my job well, users of my applications won't realize how much time and effort I've saved them. 

Primary focus is on the design and development of B2B and B2C Windows 8 apps. I also dabble in Kinect for Windows app design and development, Windows Phone, and occasionally SharePoint.

User Experience Lead

Rebuild Black Business is an Open Source Project made by a volunteer community of 500+ people, who supporting the goal of driving change and playing a part in restoring wealth to Black communities. #GiveBlack #RebuildBlack

Volunteer work for rebuildblackbusiness.com - I volunteered as a dev lead on the front end development team, coordinating work from developers around the world on the Gatsby site built for RBB.

• Contribute code and manage requirements, PRs, and issues for a growing team of 40+ Open Source developers and designers across the globe.
• Guide technical decisions for the RBB website (built with Gatsby), which features over 14,000 Black-owned businesses
• Work to pair experienced developers with first-time OSS contributors
• Meet regularly with leadership, design, and dev teams to keep progress moving on feature releases

Front End Dev Team Lead

Mapped campus buildings for planning and installation of 802.11x WiFi network on Campus. Performed network maintenance, including replacement, updating, and reprogramming of switches and routers.

UITS Student Engineer

As one of Workfrom's top contributors worldwide, I found myself paying closer and closer attention to their team and the product they built.  When the opportunity arose to contribute to something I love, I jumped at the chance.  I worked in my spare time to rebuild Workfrom's mobile application using react-native and expo, deployed to both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.

Mobile Application Developer

•	Development of new version control branching application using C# and proprietary software versioning 	tools, reducing a 3-day job to a 2 hour task.
•	Created a tool to convert a competing company's file format to Bentley's, which led to a large sale.
•	Worked with lead developers to find and eliminate bugs in existing CAD software for civil engineers.

Software Engineering Intern

(smpl.io was acquired by Proximity in early 2020!) 

smpl helps independent coworking operators run their business, so that they can get back to what they do best: building great communities of coworkers.

Bootstrapped, researched, designed, planned, and built a SaaS platform to help coworking operators run their businesses.

• Negotiated acquisition of smpl in by Proximity (https://proximity.space) in early 2020
• Set technical, design, and strategic direction for 3-person founding team
• Built membership subscription and invoicing platform using Stripe Connect to process millions of dollars in payments for small businesses around the world
• Built using React / Redux and Material UI, using Stripe and Firebase, hosted on Heroku
• Serve a growing user base with customers in 7 countries

Co-founder / CEO

Added functionality to control panel utility to display fan and temperature failure warnings.
• Designed and implemented software control for in-wall control keypads for Rosie Home Automation System
for a potential multi-million dollar customer, using the Objective-C programming language.
• Designed and implemented a video output test pattern system for troubleshooting installations, decreasing
average troubleshooting time by 50%.

Craftwork is a modern general contracting company that uses technology to simplify repair and renovation projects for homeowners.

My role at Craftwork is to guide our incredible product team as we build software that helps homeowners book home painting projects, while making life better for our sales, operations, and fulfillment teams.

Our stack: ruby on rails, next.js, trpc, postgres, react-native, and a sprinkling of LLMs and computer vision

Our engineering team consists of full-stack devs, UX designers, front end developers, machine learning specialists, and mobile app developers. Many of us wear more than one hat, and we ship updates rapidly as our business evolves.
